“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalms 1:3 KJV

Psalms 1:3 paints the picture of what the life of a New Creation should be. The first is that we have a ready supply of sustenance as depicted by the rivers of water. The Born again Christian has the indwelling power of God in our regenerated spirit, the Holy Spirit  making available the deep things of God (1Corinthians 2:9-16). As a result of this provision we

  1. Bring forth fruit in season. No life in Christ should be barren.    Season after season we should produce.
  2. Evergreen leaves. This is supernatural, ordinarily trees shed leaves in autumn to conserve energy and resources. Not so with us, we maintain vibrancy all year round.
  3. Everything we do produce more or prosper.

This is the picture of a tree that is planted by the rivers of water. Unfortunately we live in a world where instant gratification is king, nobody wants to wait, it’s the microwave age. But the truth is that  everything starts from somewhere. The Oak was once a Seed, and the seed takes Time to grow into an Oak tree. In other words there is Seed, Time and Harvest, that is the way God designed it. This is actually beneficial, because Oak trees require deep stout roots to draw up the nutrients and maintain stability.  That is why the leaves never wither and it can whether the storm.

Also a planted tree, must not be confused with a potted plant. God’s way or doing things is to plant not pot. Things that are potted are ornamental,  restricted in growth  temporary in existence, dependent on others for sustenance and disposable after they have served their purpose. To flourish you have to be planted, you become grounded and established not just for a season. It’s those that are planted that would become trees with fruits in their season, evergreen leaves and prosper continually. So if you are potted, get out of the pot and become planted. If you are planted be patient because their is SEED, TIME and HARVEST.
