“O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” Jeremiah 10:23 KJV
The more I walk with God, the more I realise that God intended for our lives to be simple and straightforward. Somehow, we have managed to complicate things. In this article, I intend to show that there are only three important questions that we need to answer in life; yes just 3. These questions are generic and universal. It does not matter your background or level of education, every one of us is constantly asking ourselves these same questions.
Where did I come from?
This is the most important of the three questions. As a matter of fact, the other two are by-products. This is something we constantly ask ourselves. The greatest error to the human race comes from wrong answers to this question. Atheism, evolution, agnosticism etc. are all faulty responses to this question.
To answer this question correctly, we need to go back to the beginning. Genesis 1:26-28, gives clear direction.
Why am I here?
For life to be meaningful, there must be a purpose. A time must come that you must ask yourself, “Is this all there is to life?”. The inspiration for Purpose must take origin from God, any other source will lead to a wasted life. Jeremiah 10:23, “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” God created us with freewill, however it is never His intention for us to take matters into our hands. Revelation 4:11, is the primary purpose for our existence, every other thing comes from this. We are God possessed people and He wants to express Himself through us.
Where am I going?
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19). Every Christian must know with a certainty, his or her eternal destination. It is not hit and miss, no ifs or but. The right answer to the first question, will of necessity produce the right answers to the other two questions. Heaven is our destination, whether we fall asleep or get raptured.
To wrap this up, the answer to the three questions can be summarised thus; “We came from God with directions and when it’s time to shed this mortal body, we will head for heaven”. Simple!
