VISION: Raising thinking Christians

Purpose: This document is designed to address two areas of fellowship in NCC StrongNation

  1. The benefits of membership in StrongNation. We call these expectations
  2. The minimum standards of conduct for all members that will help achieve these benefits.

The ideas stated here are generic and affect the membership as a whole.

The term membership here refers to those who have signified their commitment to the fellowship (see New Members policy). We recognise the church as a spiritual body that should ordinarily not be governed by strict rules and regulations, but be led by the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:17, Romans 8:14). However, to grow as a body, things work better when there is decency and order (Acts 6, 1Corinthians 14:40)

In the fellowship we recognise the following groups:

  1. Leadership
  2. Workers
  3. Members
  4. Attendees or Congregants

Expectations or Benefits of fellowship

  1. Atmosphere is conducive for vibrant spiritual fellowship. We are a spiritual body so all our activities are geared towards promoting an environment that will encourage liberty of the spirit (John 4:24)
  2. Spiritual growth; our ultimate aim is to ensure and encourage growth through discipleship (John 8:30-32)
  3. Support for individuals and families We are a tribe; we are a body. (1 Thess.5:14-15)
  4. Pursuit of Excellence in all things. For us, excellence is a journey, not a destination. (Proverbs 4:18)

Standards (or conduct of business)

These are the minimum standards we expect from every member to ensure excellence. We believe God deserves our best in everything, we need to be discipline, committed and consistent in our service to Him (Proverbs 22:29, Romans 12:11). The desire of God is that we do these willingly, from the heart and not as eye service.

Standards in general for services and events

  1. Attendance should be given high priority. We are a fellowship, our coming together in numbers creates the necessary atmosphere.
  2. Time keeping: As a fellowship, we put premium on time keeping. Services and events should have an identifiable start and end time (we however recognise the influence of the Holy Spirit). Members ideally should arrive fifteen minutes before a service and Workers as agreed in their various departments.
  3. Decorum: Avoidance of unnecessary restlessness etc.

Departmental Standards (generic)

  1. Commitment (to agreed standards): Rehearsals etc
  2. Maintaining chain of responsibility: communication with members and HOD
  3. Give support

(Each department will require specific standards)

Standards for Care of persons and property

  1. An inventory of all church properties
  2. Maintaining church properties in good order
  3. Health and Safety policy
  4. Children and adult safeguarding policies

Standards for Finance

  1. Proper records of financial transactions and payments
  2. Present a biannually financial statement (income and expenditure)
  3. Agreed procedure for procurements and disbursements for funds
  4. Annual charity Commission report

In addition to the above, the Pastor will meet with the various departments to agree standards
